作家のことば

　丘の上の古く窮屈な動物園、一番奥の檻に暮らすゴリラのケンタとチコ。
　二人の秘密を知らぬまま、その不思議な距離感になぜか強く惹かれ写生に通った。
　あれから三十年。
　既に彼らは互いを追うかのように続けてこの世を去り、動物園も移転。
　甘く切なく愛おしい日々の記憶だけが、遠くて長い残響音のように私の中に居続ける。

Kenta and Chico, gorillas who live in the innermost cage of an old, cramped zoo on a hill.

They were unaware of their secret, but for some reason were strongly attracted to the mysterious distance between them and went to the zoo to take pictures.

Thirty years have passed since then.

They have already passed away as if following each other, and the zoo has moved to a new location.

The only memory of those sweet, sad, and lovely days remains in me like a long, distant reverberating sound.
