作家のことば

　「愛うるはし」は、日本武尊とその妻、弟橘媛をテーマに、人類の普遍的な愛の尊さを表現した作品です。東奔西走の過酷な戦いの生涯を送ったヤマトタケルと、彼に寄り添い嵐の海に身を投じて海神の怒りを鎮め、夫を助けたオトタチバナは、悲劇のヒーローとヒロインのように描かれていますが、ヤマトタケルが大和へ帰還する途中に力尽きて亡くなった場所は、オトタチバナの生まれ故郷でした。二人の姿を「うるはしき愛の物語」として蘇らせ、時を越えた温かいメッセージとして語り継がれていくことを願っています。

Ai Uruhashi is a work that expresses the universal preciousness of human love, based on the theme of Takemikoto and his wife, Ototachibana Ehime.
