千手観音像

作家のことば

　私はここのところ観世音菩薩像、不動明王像といった仏画を自分なりの解釈のもと制作を続けています。今年も再度千手観音像に取り組んでいます。この観音は千の慈手をもって一切の衆生に手を差し伸べ、苦を救い済度すると言われて伝承される。その想いを胸中に、そしてこの世の不条理、理不尽なる出来事の収束を願い、合掌、祈りつつ筆を進める。

I have been continuously creating Buddhist paintings such as Kannon Bodhisattva and Fudo Myo-o, based on my own interpretation. This year, I am once again taking on the Thousand-Armed Kannon. This Kannon is traditionally believed to reach out to all sentient beings with a thousand merciful hands, relieving them of suffering and bringing salvation. Holding this wish in my heart, and praying for an end to the absurdities and injustices of this world, I move my brush while putting my hands together in prayer.
