悠久の時

　熱帯魚が中心の小さな水族館で、思いがけず凍結したシーラカンスを見た。三億年前から、ほとんど姿、形を変えず「生きた化石」として今も生息しているらしい。この古代魚に悠久の時を超えて出会ったような不思議な感動を覚えた。

I unexpectedly saw a frozen Coelacanth at a small aquarium mainly featuring tropical fish. It is said to still inhabit the oceans as a "living fossil," having changed little in form for 300 million years. I felt a strange sense of awe, as if I had encountered this ancient fish across an eon of time.
