失われた風景

作家のことば

　今回の絵の風景は三十年前の風景である。多摩川対岸川崎寄りにあったＩＳＵＺＵの工場群、そして石油コンビナート。コンビナートの一部を残し総て失った。河口にたくさんあった飛行機の進入灯も、滑走路の変更で取り除かれ、その滑走路の跡はホテルになっている。川の流れは潮の満干が加わるものの変わらない。昔は趣があった。

The landscape in this painting is that of thirty years ago: the ISUZU factory complex and the oil refinery on the Kawasaki side across the Tama River. Everything is lost now, except for a part of the refinery. The many approach lights for airplanes at the river mouth were also removed due to a runway change, and the former runway site is now a hotel. The river flow, though affected by the tide, remains unchanged. It had a different atmosphere in the past.
