満ち来る潮（水門）

作家のことば

　四月、大潮の日。海からあまり遠くない水門。
　干潮の時刻からいっときも経っていないというのに、海の方から水が流れ込んできた。それまで見えていた石ころなどは瞬く間に見えなくなり、その勢いに圧倒された。
　そのときはじめて「春の潮」の動き、大きさを感じた。

April, on a spring tide day. A sluice gate not too far from the sea.
Even though only a moment had passed since the time of low tide, water flowed in from the sea. The stones that had been visible quickly disappeared, and I was overwhelmed by the force of the flow.
It was then that I first felt the movement and magnitude of the "spring tide."
