西域の男

作家のことば

　取材で訪れたカシュガルの街角に、色の濃い長袖の上着を羽織った老人が壊れかけた椅子に座っていた。
　額の深い皺や眼差しに、西域の厳しい曠野を祈りとともに生きてきた男の歴史を覚え、「西域の男」の題名で制作しました。

On a street corner in Kashgar, which I visited for research, an old man wearing a dark, long-sleeved jacket was sitting on a broken chair.
The deep wrinkles on his forehead and his gaze evoked the history of a man who had lived through the harsh wilderness of the Western Regions with prayer, and I created this work with the title "Man of the Western Regions."
