無窮―雪の神の子池

作家のことば

　文展時代から出品し日展会員だった栁瀬俊雄が好きだった春草が描く猫は、情景によって白斑と黒に描き分けられます。父と私の作品を所蔵している美幌博物館近くの清里町、摩周湖の湧水で出来た池を、「拡散してしまう対象の外形に鮮明なヴィジョンを保持して」（Ａ・ロート『風景論』）描き、春草の師の言葉を画題にしました。

The cats painted by Shunso, whom Toshio Yanase, an exhibiting artist from the Bunten era and a Nitten member, liked, are depicted with white spots or black depending on the scene.
I painted a pond in Kiyosato Town near the Bihoro Museum, which holds works by my father and me, a pond formed by the spring water of Lake Mashu, "retaining a clear vision of the outline of the diffusing subject" (A. Roth, Traité du Paysage), and used the words of Shunso's teacher as the painting's theme.
