湖畔晩秋

作家のことば

　色づく樹々とその空間がこの絵の主題だが、湖面の存在は対比しながら主題の魅力を引き立ててくれる。水面に映る樹々の姿は地上の形と一体となって複雑な空間を作り、また湖面の水平な形状は地形の基準面のように働いてくれた。手前のススキは足元の地面を感じさせながら水面との空間を表現するように配置した。

The colored trees and their space are the subject of this painting, but the presence of the lake surface enhances the subject's appeal through contrast.
The reflections of the trees on the water integrate with the shapes on the ground to create a complex space, and the horizontal shape of the lake surface acted like a datum plane for the topography.
The Japanese pampas grass in the foreground was placed to express the space between the water surface and the ground beneath one's feet.
