　ブルガリアの首都ソフィア近郊の交差点で“赤信号”を待っている間に、まるで人生の終盤に急な一時停止を余儀なくされたような形相のご老人に目を奪われました。ブルガリアの歴史が物語る東欧の不安定な現在の情勢が垣間見えたような瞬間に思えました。その地に生きる人々の営みやその痕跡を少しでも描けたらと思いました。

While waiting for a "red light" at an intersection near Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, I was captivated by an elderly man with a look as if he was forced into a sudden stop late in life.
It felt like a moment where I caught a glimpse of the unstable current situation in Eastern Europe, narrated by Bulgaria's history.
I hoped to depict even a small part of the lives and traces of the people living in that land.
