存在Ⅱ―麦星（アルクトゥルス）

作家のことば

　途方もなく長い時間をかけて私たちに夜空の星は語りかけてくれます。私たちの住む地球の誕生も四十六億年を経ていると言われています。私たちの命はその中のほんの小さな時間にすぎません。次の新たな人がそれを引き継ぐことで歴史は作られていきます。改めて自身の存在について考えます。春の空に輝くうしかい座に輝くアクトゥルスは別名「麦星」と呼ばれています。人の手により撒かれた麦の粒は冬を耐えて初夏には黄金の実をつけます。土を耕す牛飼い人が二匹の犬を引き連れて夜空を駆け回る夜空のロマンを表してみました。うしかい座とりょうけん座が織りなす物語です。

The stars in the night sky speak to us across an impossibly long stretch of time. Our Earth is said to have been born 4.6 billion years ago. Our lives are just a tiny fraction of that time. History is made as each new generation takes the torch. I reconsider my own existence. Arcturus, which shines in the constellation Boötes in the spring sky, is also known as the "Wheat Star." Grains of wheat sown by human hands endure the winter and bear golden fruit in early summer. I've tried to express the romance of the night sky, where a cattle herder, who plows the earth, races across the heavens with two dogs. It's a tale woven by the constellations Boötes and Canes Venatici.
