夢・祈り―2025

作家のことば

　私は六歳の時、旧岡山市内に住んでいた。その年の六月、毎日のようにＢ29の空爆を受け、その度に母と二歳の妹と三人防空壕に入っていた。
　翌日岡山市内は焼土化し、多くの市民が亡くなっていた。今年「祈り」というテーマで次女の娘、六歳になる夢をモデルに制作を試みた。子供達、一般市民を巻き込む戦争は絶対にあってはならない。素朴な石膏の素材を使って制作を試みた。戦後八十年、私の「祈り」を込めた制作です。

When I was six, I lived in the former Okayama city center. In June of that year, we were bombed by B29s almost daily, and each time, my mother, my two-year-old sister, and I would take shelter in a bomb shelter. The next day, Okayama city center was reduced to scorched earth, and many citizens had died. This year, under the theme of "Prayer," I attempted to create a work using my second daughter's child, Yume, who is six, as a model. War, which involves children and ordinary citizens, must absolutely never happen. I tried to create this piece using the humble material of plaster. This work, made 80 years after the war, embodies my "prayer."
