光の道

作家のことば

夜明け前の薄明かりの中、伊豆諸島式根島付近の洋上を進む船の甲板に立っていると、太陽が海に光の道を作りながら昇ってきました。日が昇りきると青色に変わった波の上を海鳥が飛び交う姿を見つけ、この小さな命と遙か彼方水平線の向こうに広がる世界を一つの画面に表現したいと思いました。

Standing on the deck of a ship sailing near Shikinejima in the Izu Islands in the twilight before dawn, the sun rose, creating a path of light on the sea. When the sun was fully up, I saw seabirds flying over the waves that had turned blue, and I wanted to express the world of these small lives and the vast expanse beyond the horizon in one frame.
