暮春

作家のことば

　「みだれ髪」の中の晶子の歌です。暮れてゆく春だからこそ、自分の命を燃やして生きようという何ものにも負けない強い意志の感じられる歌に共感して書きました。せつない気持ちを渇筆に、奔放な思いを中央の「燃」の字に託しました。人生の暮れ方を迎え、晶子の歌に励ましと勇気をもらった思いがいたします。

This is Akiko Yosano's poem from *Midaregami* (Tangled Hair). I wrote it with empathy for the poem, which conveys a strong will that yields to nothing, an urge to live by burning one's own life, precisely because it is the spring that is drawing to a close. I entrusted the poignant feeling to dry strokes (*kappitsu*) and the unrestrained emotion to the central character "燃" (*moe*, burning). Approaching the twilight of my own life, I feel encouraged and strengthened by Akiko's poem.
