作家のことば

　山部赤人の歌に触発されての作。想定した仕上がりをねらい一気に筆を運ぶ。思い通りにいかぬが構わず書き切る。一呼吸おいて赤人の歌に取り組む。
　大字の爽やかな美しさを意識し、小書きでより紙面に立体性の生じることを願った。羊毫の大筆には不思議な力があることを改めて知らされた。

A work inspired by the poem of Yamabe no Akahito. I moved the brush in one go, aiming for the finished result I envisioned. It didn't go as planned, but I wrote it all the same. After a pause, I tackled Akahito's poem.
I was conscious of the refreshing beauty of large characters, hoping that the smaller writing would create three-dimensionality on the paper surface. I was reminded anew of the mysterious power held by a large sheep-hair brush.
