作家のことば

　素材としたのは万葉集の中より、東歌三首です。飾りのない言葉で詠まれた東歌は、素朴で純真な味わいがあります、歌の背景を考え、仮名文字が完成する以前の姿、「古代仮名」の応用を試みました。様々な紙を使い書き進めましたが、出品作は二十数年前につくられた厚い加工紙を用いたものです。

The source material for this piece comprises three Azuma Uta (Eastern Regional Poems) from the Manyoshu anthology. These Azuma Uta, composed in unadorned language, possess a distinctively simple and pure flavor. Contemplating the context of these songs, I attempted to apply Kodai Kana (Ancient Kana)—the script used before the standardized kana alphabet was fully established. I experimented with various papers throughout the process, but the submitted work was executed on thick, specially prepared paper that was crafted some two decades ago.
