無別嗜

作家のことば

　明人、卞洪動の詩を選しました。題名「無別嗜」とは自分の好きな事だけをしてきたとの意です。実生活ではそんな事はないのですが、最後の句「父が残してくれた書を読む」が私の実感です。絹本に濃墨、兼毫筆を用い倪元璐の筆意で以て書きました。黒白の相剋表現を試みましたが、この度も力み過ぎたものとなってしまいました。

I selected a poem by Bian Hongdong (Ming period). The title "*Mubesshi*" (無別嗜) means "having no particular preference" (doing only what one likes). This is not the case in real life, but the last line, "Reading the books my father left behind," is my genuine feeling. I used thick ink on silk paper with a *kenmō* (combination-hair) brush and wrote it in the brush style of Ni Yuanlu. I attempted to express the conflict between black and white, but this time too, it ended up being overdone.
