定家　花鳥和歌

作家のことば

藤原定家が、各月ごとに代表的な花と鳥を詠んだ「詠花鳥和歌」から十一月の歌を選んだ。近年、日本の四季が織り込まれたこれらの歌に共感を覚え、題材にしている。仮名作品としては大字ながらも、墨の景色、余白の美、遠近感等、仮名本来の美しさを感じられる作品を目指して制作している。

I selected a poem for November from Fujiwara no Teika's "*Eika Chōwa*" (Poems on Flowers and Birds), which features representative flowers and birds for each month. In recent years, I have been drawn to these poems, which weave together the four seasons of Japan, and have used them as subjects. Although it is a large-character *kana* work, I aim for a piece where the inherent beauty of *kana* can be felt, such as the scenery of the ink, the beauty of the open space (*yohaku*), and the sense of perspective.
