作家のことば

「氷清玉潔」という言葉がある。己の心を清らかに、その質朴な精神を表現する意。古刹禅寺に育ち祖父や父の書を見てきた。十六代の祖父は書に傾注し、晩年父に代を譲ると上阪して書に励んだ。父も場を清め丁寧に筆を執る人であった。禅語の心と師の言葉を胸に線の響き、余白の美しさを筆に託し紙面に向きあう日々としたい。

There is a saying, "Pure as ice, clear as jade" (*Hyōsei Gyokuketsu*). It means purifying one's mind and expressing a simple, pure spirit. I grew up in an old temple and saw the calligraphy of my grandfather and father. My 16th-generation grandfather devoted himself to calligraphy, and when he passed the temple to my father in his later years, he moved to Osaka to dedicate himself to writing. My father was also a person who purified the space and handled the brush carefully. With the spirit of Zen phrases and the words of my teacher in mind, I want my days facing the paper to be dedicated to entrusting the resonance of lines and the beauty of open space to the brush.
