万葉の四季

作家のことば

　万葉集の歌は大らかで素朴なものが多く、そこが好きである。時は移ったが、変わらないものもあると思う。万葉の風景に想いを馳せ、散らし書きの形が各葉繫がりながらも変化するように展開した。墨色の変化による作品の立体感や細字仮名らしい料紙の色味にも気を配りながら、変化と統一を試みた。

I love that the *Manyoshu* poems are often generous and simple. Although time has passed, I believe there are things that remain unchanged. I reflected on the scenery of the *Manyo* period and developed the scattered writing (*chirashigaki*) form so that each section connects yet changes. I attempted variation and unity, paying attention to the three-dimensionality created by changes in ink tone and the color of the paper, which is characteristic of fine-script *kana*.
