京都東山、円山公園の「祇園枝垂桜」は夜にはライトアップされ、際立つ美しさが多くの人を魅了している。樹齢九十年にもなるという老木は、桜守として名高い第十六代佐野藤右衛門氏の尽力で甦り、豪奢な姿を取り戻したと聞く。
氏は昨年旅立たれてしまったが、託された想いが末長く続いていくことを願うとともに、花の長寿を言祝ぎたい。
