天平の息吹～超えていく形～

作家のことば

天平彫刻のもつ魅力やその息吹を現代に表現できないものかと、日々制作をしています。
当時の仏師は「脱活乾漆」像の表面に漆を使って、何度も付けたり削ったりを繰り返していたのではないかと想像しています。
現代の私は粘性の強い樹脂を調整しながら納得いくまでの表面にこだわりを持って制作しています。
